Metroid Prime 4: Beyond amiibo

After almost a decade, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond was finally recently released.  And of course they have amiibo figures and I got them so let’s take a look!

Here they are in the boxes.

And here they are out of the boxes.

When you scan the Samus amiibo in the game, you can refill your energy and get an extra temporary tank.  But you can only use it once per day.  It may not seem like much, but it helped me out a few times when I was about to be beaten by a boss and didn’t want to start over at the last save.  I like Metroid Prime games, but I’m not very good at them obviously.  I think this will work with any Samus amiibo, not just this new one.  You can also scan this once you get Samus’ motorcycle and it’ll let you listen to a few tunes as you drive through the desert.  Seems like something that should’ve just been in the game, but oh well.  And having silence in the desert feels more fitting anyway.

And speaking of Samus’ motorcycle, when you scan the Vi-O-La amiibo (that’s what the motorcycle is called), you can see how many miles you’ve driven and when you reach a milestone, you can unlock a color skin for it.  I haven’t unlocked them all yet, but I hope I can make the bike be hot pink or neon green.  I doubt that’ll happen, though.  You can also refill your motorcycle’s boost charge once per day, but I haven’t found any use for that.

And finally is the Sylus amiibo.  He’s the baddie in this game, I think.  I’m still playing this game as of this writing.  I think he was also in Metroid Prime Hunters, which is one of the few Metroid games I’ve never played (along with Federation Force).  When you scan this amiibo, you can unlock a new movie you can view in the gallery after you beat the game.  And you can listen to a voice clip from him once per day taunting you.  Yeah, not very useful either.

And those are all the amiibo.  Not quite useful in most cases, but they still look cool.  People have had mixed opinions on the game, but I still think it’s fun.  The chatter from the NPCs isn’t THAT bad.  Really my only problem with it so far is that it doesn’t feel like this game should’ve taken 8 years to finish.  But anyway, that’s all for now, later!  –Cary
