Lucky Luke Clock (Switch)

Lucky Luke is a popular European comic series.  Despite being set in the American Wild West, it’s relatively obscure here in the States.  The only other time I’ve ever seen it before was a few other video game releases.  And now you can have a Lucky Luke desktop clock on your Switch.  Does anybody really use their Switch as a clock?  Well, this also has a little mini-game in it, so maybe they’re going for a modern Game & Watch motif.

You have two different choices of backgrounds for the clock.  One where Lucky Luke is riding towards the screen on his horse, or one where he is setting up camp.  You can also choose to have three different sizes of analog clocks, or one digital clock.  I like the digital one better because the analog ones have a ticking sound in the background that gets annoying after a while.

You can also play a simple Game & Watch style mini-game.  In fact, it really reminds me of the G&W game “Egg.”  You use four buttons to hold barrels at different positions so you can douse dynamite being thrown to blow up safes.  Miss three times and you lose.  It’s not really that great of a game, though.

My other main problem with the game is that the menu for setting up the clock is confusing and I couldn’t get the alarm to go off.  Supposedly the alarm shows a scene where Lucky Luke has a standoff with the Dalton gang, but I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work.  I know I’m not good with fiddly menus, but I figured out how to use my Nintendo Alarmo so you’d think I could do this, too.  I think the only people who will appreciate this application are die hard Lucky Luke fans.

Kid Factor:

Nothing violent or objectionable here.  You’d think they’d have opportunities for some cartoon violence with the dynamite mini-game, but it’s just used to blow up safes with gold in them and that’s it.  Some may not like that there are Native Americans sneaking up and creeping away from Lucky Luke in the camping scene, but I didn’t think it was that bad.  Lucky Luke Clock is rated E for Everyone.
