Happy Meal Crazy Crossovers
Lately I’ve seen some crazy crossovers in McDonald’s Happy Meal toys. So I thought I’d share them with you here, just for fun.
This first one happened about a month ago. They had toys combining two things that are totally unrelated and have nothing to do with each other except that both are very popular and from Japan. Hello Kitty and Godzilla! I thought that was so crazy and couldn’t pass up getting some of the toys. But first here’s the front of the Happy Meal box. I’m so glad after all these years McDonald’s still uses these boxes.
And here’s the other side of the box.
Here’s the display showing all the toys you could get.
And here are the toys I got. I find it funny that after playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure and even naming it my GOTY last year, now I can name all the Hello Kitty characters. I wouldn’t have been able to do that before! When I was a kid, sometimes one of the local stations would show a Godzilla movie after the Saturday morning cartoons were over, and I’d usually watch them. So I’m a big Godzilla fan, too, but I don’t know if I’d be able to name all the monsters had they not put them on the boxes here. Anyway, we’ve got Badtz-maru as Rodan, Pompompurin as Gigan, My Melody as Mothra, Cinnamaroll as Destroyah, and Kuromi as Mecha Godzilla. I love how Pom’s trademark beret is on top of the monster’s head!
And speaking of Hello Kitty, here’s another crossover featuring Hello Kitty and Pac-Man! Now, these aren’t Happy Meal toys, they’re just things I got at a store in the mall a few months ago that sells a lot of Japanese imports. But I still wanted to show them off so here’s a good of a place as any. They are pink translucent ghost monsters with Hello Kitty hats. I got Badtz-maru and Kuromi.
Next up is a more recent Happy Meal collab. In fact, depending on when you read this, they may still be doing it. These toys combine Nickelodeon tentpole SpongeBob Squarepants with anime giant One Piece. Now there’s a combination I would’ve never thought of! I guess the only thing that relates the two are they are both nautical themed. I’m not really into SpongeBob that much, but I’m even less into One Piece. So I’m not going to try and get more of these toys. In fact, the one I got I’ll probably give to my brother. Anyway, here’s the front of the Happy Meal box.
And here’s the other side.
Here’s the display showing all the characters you can get. There’s a lot!
The one I got was Plankton as Usopp. I know who Plankton is, but I couldn’t tell you anything about Usopp. You stand them up on these boat shaped podium things. Not sure what for. I do like how the box looks like a cartoony treasure chest.
And that’s all for now! Let me know what you think in the comments section! Later! –Cary
