Galaga: Tekken 20th Anniversary Edition (iPad)
So apparently, it’s the hit fighting game Tekken’s 20th Anniversary. Doesn’t really seem that long, does it? I still remember when I first saw it in arcades, and thought it was just a fancier, prettier Virtua Fighter. Anyway, so how do you suppose Bandai Namco Games is celebrating this momentous event? Are they going to release a new Tekken game, or maybe a collection of old classic ones? Nope, they’re just combining Tekken characters with…Galaga?!? Galaga: Tekken 20th Anniversary Edition is a downloadable game for iOS, Android, and Google Play, and best of all, it’s free! So how exactly does this game work? Oh, you’ll definitely want to read on to find out!
Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Pinball (360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, PC, iOS)
Tony Stark has just created a super powerful robot computer named Ultron, but it goes haywire and turns evil so now it’s up to Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers to stop him! That’s the plot of the new hit summer movie Avengers: Age of Ultron and it’s also the same as Zen Studios new pinball table for its Pinball FX2 and Zen Pinball platforms (reviewed on 360 here).
Krinkle Krusher (PS3, PS4, Vita)
A medieval kingdom is having a festival with a great big cake. But when the greedy Krinkles catch a whiff of the cake, they want it all for themselves. So these little creatures, which look like little walking balls with sharp teeth, come invading the castle looking for goodies. Now it’s up to a wizard and his living, talking glove to protect the kingdom in this cartoony tower defense style game. It’s downloadable for Sony’s current consoles, but reviewed on PS3 here.
Bubble Bath Blast (iPad)
Help a little pig pop colored bubbles and free rubber duckies during his bath time with Bubble Bath Blast, a free-to-play puzzle game for iOS (reviewed on iPad here). The game plays similarly to the classic puzzler Puzzle Bobble (or Bust-A-Move, depending on where you live in the world).
Underground (Wii U)
Young girl Sari and her robot friend Swank are trapped in an underground cavern and must find a way out! The robot finds a machine with two mechanical arms, and uses it to help the girl and all of the other trapped robots escape from the catacombs. Underground is an action puzzle game, downloadable on the Wii U eShop.
Narborion Saga: Book 2 – The God of Orcs (iOS)
With tablets serving up books of all sorts, it was only a matter of time before choose-your-own adventures started popping up. The field has now become quite crowded and fans can purchase titles that span the gamut of “pure” classic written fiction up to titles that are half reading and half strategic combat. Narborion Saga falls squarely in the latter camp. A rich backstory with plenty of narrative to go around, paired with a bit of role-play stats and turn-based tactical grid combat encounters.
Choo Parr (iPad)
Choo Parr is a free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android devices (reviewed on iPad here). In the game you play as a flying dragon, hovering above the skies of random locations like a castle, Wild West town, arctic iceberg, beach, and more. Your job is to collect equally random objects falling from the sky for points. But watch out for dangerous items cascading to the ground like bombs, grenades, and swords. Get hit twice by one of those and it’s Game Over!
Steven Universe: Attack the Light (iPad)
Steven Universe is a popular new animated series on Cartoon Network. And now you can go on an RPG adventure with Steven and the three Gem Warriors in Attack the Light, a new game you can download on the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon (reviewed on iPad here). The Gem Warriors Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl find a mysterious Prism, but when Steven touches it, a Light Monster escapes. When Garnet punches it, the monster splits into the different colors of the rainbow and scatters all over the place. Now it’s up to Steven and the others to battle light creatures and capture the monsters to save the day. They’ll need your help, too, but don’t forget your Cheeseburger Backpack!
