BlazBlue ClonePhantasma (3DS)
BlazBlue ClonePhantasma is a downloadable 3DS eShop title based on the characters and settings of the popular one-on-one fighter BlazBlue. It’s a sequel to the DSiWare game BlayzBloo and meant to be a parody of the series. The characters in the game are depicted in ‘chibi’ style and the game is a simple action brawler as opposed to a hardcore fighter.
Thomas Was Alone (iPad)
Thomas Was Alone is an indie puzzle-platformer that was originally released on PC, then later on PS3 and Vita, and now you can play it on iOS devices (reviewed on iPad here). In the game, you play as one or more different colored rectangles and squares. Each one has a special ability. One can jump really high, one can’t jump very well but can fit into small spaces, one can float on water, etc. You must use teamwork to get all the shapes to their respective portals in a level. Once they are all in a portal, you move onto the next stage.

The Walking Dead Pinball (360)
Zombies are kind of a big deal right now in the entertainment world, and one of the most popular franchises is The Walking Dead. Originally an underground comic book, now it’s one of the most-watched shows on cable TV, and a multi-million selling point and click adventure series from TellTale Games. And now it’s also a pinball game from Zen Studios for various platforms on Pinball FX2 and Zen Pinball 2 (reviewed on 360 here). The Walking Dead Pinball is based on TellTale’s point and click adventure game, so you’ll get the most enjoyment out of it if you’re familiar with that entry.
Pac-Man Friends (iPad)
It was bound to happen someday. Pac-Man, being a round yellow ball, was destined to star in a game that emulates those old marble maze games where you tilt the maze to roll around a marble. Similar to Kirby Tilt N Tumble, you must tilt your tablet device to roll Pac-Man around a maze, eating all the dots and avoiding all the ghosts in order to make it to the exit of each level. But luckily, Pac-Man has friends to help him this time. Pac-Man Friends is available to download on iOS and Android devices, but reviewed on iPad here.
2nd Opinion: Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake (iPad)
About a month or two ago, my good friend Leroy reviewed Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake for PC, and it looked like a game that was right up my alley. So Cartoon Network Games was gracious enough to give me a review code for the iPad version. So in honor of MY real birthday, which is today, September 15, here is my own take on this cute little puzzle game.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (3DS)
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have delighted kids since, well, when I was a kid! I was a little too old to get into them back then, but boy I sure did love the original arcade game! Now the four heroes are just as popular as ever, with a computer animated series on Nickelodeon and a new summer movie. Fans can relive the action of the recent film with a game based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, exclusively on Nintendo 3DS.
Panda Pandamonium (iPad)
The Brave Furries (iPad)
A tribe of little furballs lives happily in the forest, when all of a sudden an evil wizard kidnaps their princess! Now the little furries must enter the wizard’s stronghold and save the day in The Brave Furries, a downloadable puzzle game for iOS devices and Google Play (reviewed on iPad here). I’m not sure how making colored fuzzballs hop into similar colored glowing spheres arranged in a spider web grid will save a princess, but oh well. This puzzler is like a modern take on those ‘jump-a-peg’ games, you know, like the ones you can play at Cracker Barrel while you wait for your food.
DreamWorks Press: Dragons (iPad)
DreamWorks’ popular computer animated film, How to Train Your Dragon, has spawned a recent summer movie sequel as well as an animated series on television. Now your kids can enjoy a digital storybook based on the characters and settings from the franchise. It’s available for download on iOS devices, but reviewed on iPad here.
