Game Review: Pinball FX 2 (Xbox LIVE)
Game Review: Bit.Trip Fate (WiiWare)
There are quite a few of the Bit.Trip games on WiiWare now. They utilize retro styled graphics and sound along with retro themed gameplay for a challenging old school experience. Some of the games in the past have imitated Pong (Bit.Trip Beat) or a 2-D side-scrolling platformer (Bit.Trip Runner). The newest in the series, Bit.Trip Fate, plays like a horizontally scrolling 2-D shooter.
Game Review: Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light (DS)
Despite its conclusive-sounding name, Final Fantasy is one of the longest running role-playing game series. With more than 20 years under the belt, the Final Fantasy series has undergone a lot of changes. But what about those of us who miss the more ‘old-school’ FF titles? The 4 Heroes of Light for DS is supposed to fill that void.
Game Review: Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals (DS)
Back in the 16-bit gaming days, the Super Nintendo was the best place for enthralling RPG adventures. One of the lesser-known gems was Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals. While it never got as renowned as Final Fantasy 6 or Chrono Trigger, it was a surprisingly playable game in its own right. Lufia 2 featured tried and true turn-based battles, catchy music, and best of all, fun dungeons with brain-teasing puzzles. Now, Lufia 2 is reborn in a totally different reboot on the Nintendo DS.
Game Review: Super Scribblenauts (DS)
Last year I reviewed Scribblenauts, a critically acclaimed and highly unique 2-D action puzzler where you type in whatever word your want, and it’ll appear in the game for you to use to solve puzzles and bypass obstacles. Now the sequel, Super Scribblenauts is here. So what makes it so super? You’ll just have to read on to find out.
Cary’s “Kirby’s Epic Yarn” Pink Party!
When Halo Reach came out, video game stores across the country celebrated with Halo launch parties with all sorts of fun stuff. But you know what’s not fair? NOBODY ever did a Kirby launch party when Kirby’s Epic Yarn came out last week. Don’t you think a Kirby party would be fun? Or maybe I’m the only one. Oh well, I’ll show you how much fun a Kirby party can be with my own pretend Kirby party right on this blog! I’ll have a special review of Kirby’s Epic Yarn. And stick around afterwards for some more Kirby fun!
Game Review: Littlest Pet Shop 3: Biggest Stars (DS)
Those popular big-eyed, bobble-headed miniature toy pets for girls, Littlest Pet Shop, are back in a big way in a game on the Nintendo DS. In the third installment, Biggest Stars, help your favorite pets practice and try out for the Biggest Stars teams, as well as collect ingredients to make cool fashions and yummy treats for your Littlest Pet Shop critters. The DS game comes in three different flavors: Blue Team, Pink Team, and Purple Team (Blue reviewed here). Each version has its own special pets to play with. And for a limited time, if you get the game at Toys R Us, it comes with two special real life toys exclusive to the DS.
Game Review: Sled Shred Featuring the Jamaican Bobsled Team (Wii)
Review: Gamma World (paper RPG)
After nearly 10 years, the post apocalyptic adventures of Gamma World have returned. This time around multiple dimensions of the Earth were squashed together in a great cataclysm when something in Europe’s Large Hadron Collider goes “bloop”. In an instant multiple Earths with different timelines collide with our own creating chaos and global devastation. Gamma World is a somewhat goofy role playing game set in this alternate future. Players take on the role of creatures like giant cockroaches, mind-bending teddy bears, or even a swarm of angry intelligent cats. Based off the popular, new 4th edition of the Dungeons and Dragons role playing game, Gamma World offers gamers a slightly simpler and zanier gaming experience in a single box set.

Reader Review: Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360, PS3)
Just in time for Halloween comes the sequel to Dead Rising. This time, instead of taking over a shopping mall, the undead have overrun the fictional Fortune City, a Vegas lookalike. Just as in the first game, you can pick up nearly anything and use it as a weapon against the droves of zombies. And now you can play online and play games on a pretend zombie reality TV show! Definitely more campy than scary. My brother Jeff is such a Dead Rising fan, I thought I’d have him take a stab at reviewing it. So here’s high school senior Jeff Orth’s review of Dead Rising 2! (Xbox 360 version reviewed here)
