Nintendo DSi XL
In the handheld wars, Nintendo has always reigned supreme. This has always made monkeys out of tech journalists and hardcore gamers – people who believe the Darwin like idea that tech wins over all else (a fallacy). I remember the original GameBoy and how the GameGear and then the Nomad and then one from Atari and one from… I don’t remember, Nokia had one at one point. But despite inferior technology – the GB had a black and white screen for god’s sake! – Nintendo has always come out on top based on the idea that people want games, and more games, and more games and that tech and price only appealed to a small subset of hardcore gamers. The Wii is no aberration, it was Nintendo returning to it’s smart ideas about roping in children, adults and old folks AND gamers all with one lasso.
Game Review: Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love (Wii, PS2)
Sakura Wars is a popular long-running strategy RPG series from Japan made by Sega. Now, thanks to NIS America, stateside players can finally enjoy this game on Wii and PS2 (Wii version reviewed here). Set in an alternate reality in 1920’s New York City, a Broadway musical troupe secretly defends the city from evil by piloting hulking robot battle mechs!
Scribblenauts – Reader Review
Triumph is a 24-year old and he’s submitted this review of a really cool concept DS game called Scribblenauts. This is a Reader Review, meaning a reader, like you, has written it. I like giving readers and parents the chance to read other perspectives on games. Games you might like, or want to stay away from and I’ll take them from any reader of any age. It’s about perspective. Please use the Email link to your left to contribute!
Game Review: Sam & Max Season 3: The Devil’s Playhouse, Episode 1: The Penal Zone (iPad, PC, Mac, PS3)
Sam & Max aren’t your regular police force…they’re the Freelance Police. Sam is a no-nonsense dog detective and his pal Max is a hyperkinetic rabbity thing. For more than 20 years they’ve been serving their brand of justice on the pages of underground comic books, on a Saturday morning cartoon, and in some popular computer adventure games. Now they’re ready for their third season of crazy madcap episodic point and click adventures! (PC version reviewed here)
Game Review: Mimana Iyar Chronicle (PSP)
In Mimana Iyar Chronicle, an action-RPG for the PSP, play as Crais, a young guild knight. Crais is broke and down on his luck after gambling too much, and he’s a bit of a jerk, too. Luckily, a young girl soon hires Crais through the guild to be her bodyguard as they search the world for seven magical gems. In typical RPG fashion, they’ll meet up with other rag-tag adventurers and magicians who will join them as they end up saving the world in the process.
Portal
“This is a triumph!” I have a few holes in my game knowledge, but I did play Portal a bit when it came out – you know, right after my massive heart episode. Anyway, the game didn’t mix well with Vicodin, so I played long enough to get that GLaDOS was hilarious and insane and that the game itself was a work of genius. Oh, I also fell in love with “I’m Still Alive” in Rock Band. Well, Portal 2 is coming and I decided to finally finish the first one. Actually, I started it over and for two days I became obsessed.
New Club Nintendo Rewards Reviews!
Nintendo has an online program called Club Nintendo, where you can register your games and consoles and fill out surveys on what you purchased. It’s probably just a clever marketing ploy to get gamers to help Nintendo keep track of sales, feedback, and other numbers. But the good thing is that nearly everything you do there earns you coins. And you can spend those coins on rewards. Most of these rewards I don’t have any interest in. Mario stationery, game case holders, playing cards? Nah. But when it comes to exclusive games you can only get through Club Nintendo, then I’m totally interested! So here are two quick reviews on the newest Club Nintendo exclusive games: Game & Watch Collection 2 and Grill-Off With Ultra Hand.
Borderlands: Reader Review
For our latest Reader Review we have Borderlands by frequent poster ROFLCopter, a 15 year old. Remember, you can submit a Reader Review about any game you want. I want to hear from you! (Note: It may take a while for it to appear. I’m very busy, and lazy, so if you’ve submitted a review, just wait, it will appear!)

Game Review: Sushi Go Round (DS)
Run your very own sushi bar in Sushi-Go-Round for DS and Wii (DS version reviewed here). It’s based on the popular casual online PC game from Miniclip. Similar to other restaurant themed games like Diner Dash and Fast Food Panic, follow sushi recipes and roll up the right ingredients to keep your fish-craving customers happy.
