Kave is a brave hunter and chief of a group of Neanderthals. But one day he gets banished from his tribe for some reason. While wandering about alone, he sees a mysterious craft crash land, and on closer inspection, he spies an ancient alien exit the downed spaceship and zips towards a volcano. In his haste, the alien drops a futuristic jet pack, which Kave puts on and decides to go after the alien to find out what he’s up to and win back his tribe in the process. Jet Kave Adventure is a 2.5D platformer and is an exclusive download on the Nintendo Switch.
Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns (Switch)

Before Candy Crush clones flooded the mobile market, one of the big match three giants was Puzzle Quest. It played like Bejeweled but with RPG elements added. It was a huge hit, and has had many versions, including one that featured Adventure Time characters from the cartoon that I reviewed a few years ago. And now Puzzle Quest returns with new classes and quests, and is exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
Super Kirby Clash (Switch)

A few weeks ago, Nintendo surprised everyone with a new free-to-start online Switch game, and it was a Kirby title as well! Kirby is one of my number one favorite Nintendo franchises, so of course I’m going to download it and review it! Super Kirby Clash is an enhanced version of Team Kirby Clash, which was originally a mini-game found in one of the 3DS Kirby titles, and later got a separate Deluxe version you could download on the 3DS eShop. If you combined Kirby boss battles with RPG aspects, this is basically what you get. For some reason, it also makes me think of Kirby meets Monster Hunter.
Newt One (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)

Newt is a…well, I’m not really sure what she is. A musical note? A bug? Well, she’s some kind of critter who lives in a world of music and color, but one day The Great Slumber arrives and removes all the color and music from the world. Newt has the power to bring color back to everything she touches, and now she must save her world in this totally non-violent 3-D platformer. Newt One is available to download on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
Petoons Party (PS4, Switch, PC)

Petoons are colorful critters who love to play together and have fun. And now you can join in with them in Petoons Party. Up to four players can roll the dice on virtual game boards, take turns earning and losing points, and play mini-games after each round. So yeah, it’s a Mario Party clone. It’s available on PS4, Switch, and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
Heave Ho (Switch, PC)

In this game, you control a critter who is just a head with two arms sticking out. You move these guys in a 2-D area, and use the L and R sticks to wave their arms. When their hands are near a platform, you can hold down the L or R shoulder buttons to make them grab on to it. Then you can swing around to nearby platforms, or even launch them and use their trajectory to reach faraway ones. In a way it kind of reminds me of DK: King of Swing and Jungle Climber. You must help these creatures reach a bowl-shaped goal to pass the level. Heave Ho is available to download on Nintendo Switch and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.
While True: Learn () (Mobile, PC)

I never pass up the chance to review educational games. I’ve always had an interest in them, and it baffles me why some companies shy away from calling their games educational. I’ve reviewed everything from games that introduce preschoolers to early concepts as well as ones that teach math skills to elementary school students. But it’s clear the way of the future is with computers, and if you want a way to make it big, it’s important to get a head start in programming and coding. So that’s why I’m pleased to see a game like While True: Learn (). Yes that’s the title. It teaches logic skills used in programming and coding in a visual way. It’s available on mobile devices and PC, but reviewed on iPad here.
Whipseey and the Lost Atlas (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC)

A boy opens a magic storybook and gets sucked inside. He gets turned into a little pink blob, but a princess gives him a whip thing to help him along. Now he must travel through challenging 2-D platforming levels in this 8-bit styled action game. It’s available to download on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.
Space Cows (Switch, PC)

A farmer’s beloved cow has been abducted by aliens, and so the farmer arms himself with his trusty plunger, disguises himself as a steer, and gets captured himself to save his livestock from evil Mootants. Space Cows is a twin stick shooter with plenty of bovine humor, milk puns, and fart jokes. It’s available to download on Switch and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.
