Marvel’s Women of Power (PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, 360, PC, iOS)
Girl Power is taking over pinball! A bevvy of Marvel’s superheroines have teamed up to bring you two new action packed pinball tables for play on Zen Studios’ pinball platforms: Pinball FX2 and Zen Pinball 2. They’re available on nearly all current game consoles and computers, but reviewed on PS3 here.
George of the Jungle: Owie Owie (iOS, Android)
I’m a big fan of Jay Ward Studios, and I even used to know someone who worked there. So what is Jay Ward Studios? Well they made a pretty well-known cartoon called Rocky and Bullwinkle. They also did a lot of animated advertising, and created a pretty popular cereal character. You may not remember Quisp and Quake, but you might recall a certain seafaring gentleman known as Cap’n Crunch. Another cartoon they did back in the day was George of the Jungle. Despite having two dopey live action movies and a lousy animated remake, George still has one of the catchiest theme songs on TV. So when I read about a George of the Jungle free-to-play downloadable game on iOS and Android (reviewed on iPad here), I was mildly curious.
Kubo: A Samurai Quest (iOS, Google Play)
I’m a big fan of stop motion and clay animation. In fact, I even took a class on it once and now I have lots more respect for the folks who do that kind of stuff for movies and whatnot. Which is why I keep my eye out on what Laika does. Laika is a studio which has made stop motion movies such as Caroline, ParaNorman, and Boxtrolls. Their newest feature, Kubo and the Two Strings, takes elements form Japanese folklore and while the plot is a bit predictable, it’s still fun and visually stunning. Sadly, the mobile game tie-in, Kubo: A Samurai Quest, is yet another match-three puzzler, but I had to take a look at it anyway out of curiosity. It’s available free-to-play on iOS and Google Play, but reviewed on iPad here.
Cary’s Spring and Summer 2016 Movie Roundup!
Well, summer’s almost over, so you know what that means. It’s time for me to talk about the movies I saw this summer (and some in the spring, too), as well as movies I wanted to see but didn’t get a chance to. I’ll try to keep things spoiler-free, but there may be a few that slip out, so just be warned. So let’s do this thing!
Disney Art Academy (3DS)
For nearly a century, Disney has been synonymous with artistic animation and cartoons, and now they’ve teamed up with Nintendo for a new Art Academy game. Nintendo has been teaching art lessons with their Art Academy franchise on multiple consoles, spanning the DS, 3DS, and even the Wii U. So it only seems natural for them to feature art lessons with Disney characters on the 3DS. I’ve wished that this series would get more recognition, and maybe now with the familiar Disney license, it might just do that.
Hi-C Ecto-Cooler Returns! (My Childhood in a Can)
A new Ghostbusters movie was recently released, with a lot of mixed reactions from fans. When I first heard about it, I said, “Hey, I’m OK with it if they bring back Ecto Cooler,” not thinking that they would. Well guess, what? They DID bring back Ecto-Cooler so I guess I’m OK with the movie now! The new Ecto Cooler is sold in cans (although I’ve seen pictures of it on the Internet in juice box form as well). Only problem with it is that it’s REALLY hard to find. Luckily I found a movie theater that served it in cans, so I snagged a few and here’s my impressions of it.
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Wii U, PS4, PS3, Vita, 3DS, Xbox One, 360, PC, iOS, Google Play)
A (not so) long time ago in a galaxy (not too) far, far away, LEGO Star Wars came out and pretty much launched the massively successful LEGO movie-based video game line. Now the series is returning to the franchise that started it all with LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, based on the newest film. Join Rey, BB-8 and the rest of the gang as they play out scenes from the movie in LEGO form, which also features some new gameplay modes and sidequests that flesh out the characters and storyline of the Star Wars universe. It’s available for practically every game playing device on the market right now, but reviewed on Wii U here.

Kingdom Hearts: Unchained x (iOS, Android)
Kingdom Hearts is one of the most popular game series for developer Square-Enix, and now the latest game in the lineup is a free-to-play title on iOS and Android devices (reviewed on iPad here). The games successfully merge Disney stars and worlds with famous Final Fantasy game characters in a fun and colorful action RPG. This new game is supposed to take place in the storyline before any of the others, although I really couldn’t tell. You’ll first design and create your very own Keyblade warrior’s look and outfit, and then send them off on a touchscreen adventure!
Cary’s Top Four Favorite Pixar Films (and Top Four Least Favorite Also)
Finding Dory was recently released in theaters, and it’s a sequel to Finding Nemo, which is one of my favorite Pixar films. So it got me to thinking about my other Pixar favorites, and also Pixar movies that I didn’t like as much. So I made a list of my top four favorite and least favorite Pixar films. Why four? No reason other than that it was harder to narrow it down to five. I had four distinct ones in each category but after that it wasn’t as clear. So I stuck with four for eac
