Based on the movie and book, LEGO The Hobbit takes you on an adventure in Middle Earth. Play as Gandalf the Wizard as well as a host of dwarves, Hobbits, and other characters as they tromp all over Middle Earth looking for treasure and face off against the fearsome Smaug the dragon! LEGO The Hobbit is available for all current game systems, but reviewed on 360 here.
Cary’s Pre-Summer Movie Round-Up

Usually during the winter and spring months at the beginning of the year, I don’t see very many movies in theaters. The majority of the movies I see are during the summer months when all the mindless blockbusters come out. At the end of the summer, I usually write a round-up blog about the flicks I saw during those months. But this year, I actually saw enough movies during the winter and spring seasons that I can write a blog about them now! So here’s a blog about the films I saw BEFORE the summer movie blast that’ll hit us in a few weeks. Oh yeah, just a word of warning. I’m going to try and keep this blog spoiler free, but if a tiny spoiler trickles out, I’m just letting you know it might happen.
The LEGO Movie Videogame (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Vita, Wii U, 3DS, PC)

Based on the current hit (and very awesome) LEGO film comes The LEGO Movie Videogame. Following the same plot as the film, play as Emmett, Wyldstyle, and other heroes as they explore locations in the movie like Brickburg city, Wild West Flatbrush Gulch, crazy Cloud Cuckooland, and more as they try to thwart Lord Business’ evil plans. The game is available for all current game consoles, but reviewed on Xbox 360 here.
VeggieTales Appisode: 3 Builders (iPad)

Personally, I LOVE VeggieTales. It’s a fun computer animated series that combines great humor with Bible based lessons and values. And now Larry the Cucumber, Bob the Tomato, and the rest of the gang are entering into the 21st century with an interactive episode of VeggieTales for your iPad or iPhone (reviewed on iPad here).
Double Dragon (PS3)

Double Dragon is widely considered to be one of the first side scrolling beat ‘em up games, and it had a huge impact on the video games and entertainment industries. It spawned several sequels in the arcade and ports on home consoles. They had crossover adventures with other video game heroes, such as the Battletoads. There was even an animated series and live action movie about Double Dragon. And only a couple of years ago, there was an 80’s reference-filled remake called Double Dragon Neon (and I even reviewed it). But did you know that at one point, there was a Double Dragon one-on-one fighting game? I didn’t know that, and I thought I knew all there was to know about Double Dragon. Anyway, this game was for the Neo Geo and Japan-only PlayStation. MonkeyPaw Games is releasing several import PSOne games for download on the PS3, and their first one is this Double Dragon title!
Angry Birds Star Wars (Wii, 3DS, Wii U, PS3, 360, PS4, Vita)

A (not very) long time ago in a galaxy (not at all) far away, two of the most popular names in entertainment joined forces for one of the craziest crossovers ever! Angry Birds Stars Wars combines the simple yet addicting gameplay of Angry Birds with the familiar characters and settings of the Star Wars movies. And now it’s blasting to a game console near you. Originally on tablets and smartphones, now Angry Birds Star Wars is available for nearly every new and current game console out there, but reviewed on Wii here.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (3DS)

In the new computer animated movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (loosely based on the book), the gang from the first film travel back to their island which was ravaged by giant food storms. On their return trip in the sequel, they discover the food has turned into living creatures! While the new 3DS game is based on the movie, it actually plays strikingly similar to Fruit Ninja!
Disney Infinity (PS3, Wii U, 360, 3DS, Wii)

Recently a report went out saying that Skylanders is the top selling action figure line here in the US. Now Disney wants of piece of the action, too! So here comes Disney Infinity, a video game action figure combo where you place popular Disney character figures on a stand and then you can play as them in the Disney Infinity game! It’s available for nearly all the current popular game consoles, but the PS3 version is reviewed here.

Well the summer is winding down, and so is the summer movie season. So in honor of that, here’s a rundown of the movies I saw this summer. Slight spoiler warnings here and there, but I promise I won’t reveal too much.
Turbo: Super Stunt Squad (Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS, PS3, 360)

In the new DreamWorks computer animated summer movie Turbo, a snail gets infused with nitro from a race car and now is the fastest snail in the world. Now you can play as Turbo and his friends in the new game based on the movie. Surprise! Turbo: Super Stunt Squad is a racing game! (Nintendo Wii and 3DS versions reviewed here)
