Girl Power is taking over pinball! A bevvy of Marvel’s superheroines have teamed up to bring you two new action packed pinball tables for play on Zen Studios’ pinball platforms: Pinball FX2 and Zen Pinball 2. They’re available on nearly all current game consoles and computers, but reviewed on PS3 here.
George of the Jungle: Owie Owie (iOS, Android)

I’m a big fan of Jay Ward Studios, and I even used to know someone who worked there. So what is Jay Ward Studios? Well they made a pretty well-known cartoon called Rocky and Bullwinkle. They also did a lot of animated advertising, and created a pretty popular cereal character. You may not remember Quisp and Quake, but you might recall a certain seafaring gentleman known as Cap’n Crunch. Another cartoon they did back in the day was George of the Jungle. Despite having two dopey live action movies and a lousy animated remake, George still has one of the catchiest theme songs on TV. So when I read about a George of the Jungle free-to-play downloadable game on iOS and Android (reviewed on iPad here), I was mildly curious.
Disney Art Academy (3DS)

For nearly a century, Disney has been synonymous with artistic animation and cartoons, and now they’ve teamed up with Nintendo for a new Art Academy game. Nintendo has been teaching art lessons with their Art Academy franchise on multiple consoles, spanning the DS, 3DS, and even the Wii U. So it only seems natural for them to feature art lessons with Disney characters on the 3DS. I’ve wished that this series would get more recognition, and maybe now with the familiar Disney license, it might just do that.

A (not so) long time ago in a galaxy (not too) far, far away, LEGO Star Wars came out and pretty much launched the massively successful LEGO movie-based video game line. Now the series is returning to the franchise that started it all with LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, based on the newest film. Join Rey, BB-8 and the rest of the gang as they play out scenes from the movie in LEGO form, which also features some new gameplay modes and sidequests that flesh out the characters and storyline of the Star Wars universe. It’s available for practically every game playing device on the market right now, but reviewed on Wii U here.

Kingdom Hearts: Unchained x (iOS, Android)

Kingdom Hearts is one of the most popular game series for developer Square-Enix, and now the latest game in the lineup is a free-to-play title on iOS and Android devices (reviewed on iPad here). The games successfully merge Disney stars and worlds with famous Final Fantasy game characters in a fun and colorful action RPG. This new game is supposed to take place in the storyline before any of the others, although I really couldn’t tell. You’ll first design and create your very own Keyblade warrior’s look and outfit, and then send them off on a touchscreen adventure!
Yo-Kai Watch: Wibble Wobble (iOS, Android)

Yo-Kai Watch is a super-popular 3DS video game and cartoon about a boy who meets and befriends spirits and mythical monsters called “Yokai,” and calls upon them with a special Yo-Kai Watch on his wrist when he needs their help to solve problems. The franchise has been a huge hit in Japan where it originated, and last fall the first 3DS video game was released in the US and the cartoon started airing on Disney XD. And now there is a brand new Yo-Kai Watch game you can play, too! This one’s called Yo-Kai Watch: Wibble Wobble, and it’s available to download for free on iOS and Android devices (reviewed on iPad here). It’s an action-puzzle game with RPG gameplay elements and characters straight from the original 3DS entry and cartoon!

Nintendo and Namco have worked together a lot in the past. Namco’s good at making arcade baseball games, so Nintendo had them do some Mario baseball titles. Namco’s Taiko drum music games were a hit in Japan, so Nintendo had them do Donkey Konga. And Namco also is known for racing and fighting games, so they helped Nintendo with the arcade Mario Karts and recent Smash Bros. games. So when Nintendo wanted to make a Pokémon fighting game, Namco was up to the task again, since they are known for fighters like Tekken. In fact, that’s why the Pokémon fighter is called Pokken, as a combination of Pokémon and Tekken. So I thought in this blog we’d take a quick look at the game and check out which Pokémon you can play as!

Adventure Time is one of Cartoon Network’s most popular shows, and I’ve probably reviewed more Adventure Time games than any other cartoon license out there. Since I’ve been doing this for nearly 20 years now, that’s saying something! In fact, most of my Adventure Time knowledge comes from the games, because I really don’t watch the cartoon much. Anyway, all of the Adventure Time games up to this point have starred Finn and Jake, which makes sense because they’re the main characters in the cartoon. But finally, we have an Adventure Time game starring another character, and it also happens to be my favorite one: BMO! BMO Snaps is a picture-taking arcade shooting gallery game downloadable for iOS devices (reviewed on iPad here).
