Review: Faceez (DSi)
Ah, photo frames, the staple of any novelty gift shop. Have you ever been to a gift store or souvenir stand where they have those picture frames where you put a photo of a person’s face in the frame or bobblehead? And the rest of the frame is like a stick figure person doing something silly like fishing or skateboarding? Well, Faceez, a downloadable camera program for the Nintendo DSi, is like a digital version of those kooky photo frames.
The Games of Touchmaster 3 (DS)
St. Patrick’s Day is coming up soon, and many partygoers will be hitting the bars that night. If you’re one of the folks who will be doing that, DRINK RESPONSIBLE AND BE CAREFUL! Anyway, one of the video games you can find in many bars (besides the run down Golden Tee Golf machine) is Touchmaster. These touch screen casual games are great for passing the time while waiting for your friends at bars, and many of these games have been ported to the DS in the Touchmaster collections. So in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, here’s a rundown of all the games you can find in the third edition of Touchmaster for DS.
Endless Ocean: Blue World
Endless Ocean is the kind of software hardcore gamers tend to hate. There’s really not much game to it, you swim around beautiful corral and oceanic landscapes full of different kinds of fish, gaze in wonder at whales, and in this game, you avoid sharks. The music is tranquil, the gameplay is simple and you get to feed and pet fish. Petting fish teaches you about them – and yeah, that’s weird. If you scuba in real life it’s not a good idea to pet the fish.

Harvey Stickman Saves Chicago – Chapter 2
Game Review: Ragnarok DS
Ragnarok is one of the most popular online computer games worldwide. Now you can enjoy the world of Midgard in a self-contained adventure with Ragnarok DS. While the main adventure is not online like the PC game, the world, characters, themes, and gameplay remain intact. Play as Ales, a young novice adventurer. After losing both his parents, Ales vows to become a great adventurer and along the way he meets up with a ragtag team of fighters who will aid him on his quest.
My 3rd Novel Scores!
Jenny & the Giant – first three chapters posted below – was my first attempt at a Children’s Novel. Harvey Stickman was my 2nd. Surviving a Heart Attack was my … break time? and my 3rd Novel, unnamed here due to jinx fears, has been accepted by my top agent of choice AND has already been accepted by a top literary house contingent on revisions!

KORG DS-10 Plus
KORG is a maker of musical instruments, and now you can have one of their analog synthesizers in your own pocket. No need to lug around a big keyboard, and it’s a lot less expensive, too. KORG DS-10 Plus is a powerful little tool, but you’d best have prior knowledge of music and synthesizers before jumping in!
A Big Media Question
Christopher Asks a BIG Question here: “Closing your mind is where the true immorality and ignorance live.”
How is this statement any different than say, “Opening one’s mind too much can allow true immorality and ignorance to consume healthy awareness”?
Both are opinionated expressions that have no meaning beyond a persons desire to believe in them. A closed mind, like repression, can be unhealthy. But it is also correct that an open mind, like free expression, can be unhealthy as well. How can anyone say with even remote certainty that technology like video games are not affecting most people negatively on some level? It is not possible to measure the correlation between many aspects of behavior and influence. There are far to many variables involved to just shrug off the idea that exposure to such things as video games and movies can be socially unhealthy. One could drown on a boat ride, but I would venture that exposure to the atmosphere in a real world context is always a healthier outlet than exposure to a simulated fantasy created by strangers for (among other thing) your money.
