New Harvest Moon Games Crop Up on Wii and DS
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for the year’s bountiful harvest, and what better way to celebrate than with a Harvest Moon game? This long-running series of farming simulations just added two new members to the family: Harvest Moon: Animal Parade on Wii and Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands on DS.
Ask GamerDad – Coverage
A reader asks, politely, about the sparsity of GamerDad coverage from GamerDad (aside from the herculean coverage from Mr. Woodham). GamerDad takes the time to explain. So, Mr. Pip, here’s the answer to that question. I suspect you won’t like it, so be warned:
Game Review: Remington’s Great American Bird Hunt (Wii)
This week, people all over the US will be sitting down with friends and family to eat a big ol’ turkey. Just in time to get you into the turkey spirit, here’s Remington’s Great American Bird Hunt for Nintendo Wii. It’s an arcade style shooting gallery game where you hunt duck, geese, and yes, even wild turkey!
Game Review: My Baby: First Steps (Wii, DS)
In the original My Baby Boy/Girl game on Nintendo DS, you helped raise a virtual baby from birth to its first step. Now in the sequel, My Baby: First Steps for DS and Wii (Wii version reviewed here), you’ll be continuing on, raising your baby to help it walk with more confidence and teaching its first words.
Blog Jr.
OK everyone, it’s time to get out your safety scissors and juice boxes (mmmm…Ecto Cooler…), because in this blog, we’re all going to become little kids again for a short while. Recently I reviewed several Nick Jr. games, and it got me to thinking about other good educational games and TV shows I’ve enjoyed. So I thought I’d talk about them on this blog.
My Mom Goes to the Nintendo World Store in NYC!
One bad thing about business trips is that you might get to travel to a new city or country, but since you’re on the clock, you might not be able to leave the hotel or convention center. My mom just got back from a business trip to New York City, and she had never been there before. Luckily, when she wasn’t working, she was able to find time to see lots of sights: Times Square, the FAO Schwartz toy store, and more. But one store she went to that I’m most jealous about is the Nintendo World Store!
EA Active & GamerMom
We were at a local GameStop. I had enough trade in value to buy everybody a game. I picked up Tekken 6 + special controller, Henry picked Mario & Sonic Olympic Winter Games for DS, Maggie picked My Sims Party for DS, and GamerMom? Her first chance to just BUY a game. Indulge in her curiosity? What does SHE buy? EA Active. An excercise game for the Wii. Here’s her take!
Game Review: Wii Fit Plus (Wii)
I was late to the Wii Fit party. I had heard about the peripheral, but my enjoyment of casual games didn’t quite draw me in. Fast forward six months after the game released, and I had read enough raving reviews (here and elsewhere) about the fun and exercise that can be had with the Wii Fit. Proof of its popularity, even six months after its release it was still hard to find a copy of the game. After a month of shopping around I bought a copy and haven’t looked back. Nintendo knows when they have a good title on their hands, and has recently released an update to the original Wii Fit that expands gamer options.

Game Review: Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom (Wii)
A greedy king has stolen all the crystals that give color to the world, and now all the hues in the land are fading. It’s up to Dora and Boots to find the crystals and give color back to the world. Based on the new Nick Jr. TV special, Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom for Wii is best described as your child’s first 2-D platform jumping video game adventure.
Best Animated Film
The Academy has released their noms for Best Animated Feature – usually this came down to a no-brainer. Pixar wins! Except for the year when Shrek beat Monster’s Inc (which is a fact that grows more absurd each year), this has been Pixar’s main category. This year is different. This year there’s lots of competition.
