Gabrielle’s Zombie Attack (iPad)
Yesterday we looked at a free-to-play iOS game from Natsume called Gabrielle’s Monster Match. It featured characters from Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove 3-D, an adorably spooky music game for 3DS. Today we’ll take a look at a more recent free-to-play spinoff called Gabrielle’s Zombie Attack. It’s available for iOS devices as well, but reviewed on iPad here. It’s mostly similar to the puzzle game Zuma.
Gabrielle’s Monster Match (iPad)
A couple of years ago I reviewed an adorable spooky music game from Natsume called Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove 3-D. In the game, Gabrielle is a young girl who accidentally sneezes her soul out of her body, and visits a world of monsters as a temporary ghost. She makes friends with a nice vampire, caring Frankenstein, friendly werewolf, and fun-loving teddy bear mummy. I thought the characters were cute and would make a neat spooky license for girls, way better than some of the others out there like Monster High. Luckily, Gabrielle and her monster pals have returned in a couple of free-to-play games for iOS devices (reviewed on iPad here). We’ll look at the first one today: Gabrielle’s Monster Match.
Zombie! Zombie! Zombie! (iPad)
Zombie! Zombie! Zombie! (or Zx3 for short) is an action puzzle game for iOS devices (reviewed on iPad here). While it may sound like a zombie puzzle iPad game I reviewed last year called Containment, Zx3 is actually its own beast. Crowds of zombies approach from the top of the screen down to the bottom, where your survivors are. Tap on three of the same kind of zombie to clear them out. The three that you clear out will form a triangle. Zombies inside this triangle will be defeated, too. Try to make big triangles to defeat larger groups of zombies and boost your score. Survive waves to make it to the next round, but if the zombies defeat all of your survivors at the bottom of the screen, it’s Game Over!
Regular Show: Ghost Toasters (iPad)
For the week of Halloween, we’re going to celebrate here at GamerDad with some spooky kid-friendly iPad games! The first is based on one of my favorite Cartoon Network TV programs: Regular Show. In the game, Mordecai and Rigby are horsing around while driving the park golf cart when they crash into the hot dog stand. The impact sends hot dogs with a special ghostly sauce into the graveyard, awakening thousands of ghosts that threaten to invade the park. Luckily the hot dog vendor gives our two heroes special ghost weapons to stop the spirits from taking over their park. Ghost Toasters is available for iOS devices, but reviewed on iPad here.
30th Anniversary Capcom Character Encyclopedia (Book)
Game maker Capcom has created some of the most memorable and likable characters in video game history, many of which have starred in several comic books, cartoons, and even Hollywood movies! If you’re a Capcom fan like me, then you’ll want to check out the 30th Anniversary Capcom Character Encyclopedia. It’s a hardcover book with 200 of Capcom’s most famous (and not so famous) heroes and villains. Everyone from Ada Wong and Amaterasu, to Zack & Wiki and Zero! Each page features a character with artwork, a bio, and other interesting tidbits. Let’s take a look at a few of the pages and see some of my favorite characters!
Cary’s Top Five Favorite Phoenix Wright Characters
The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney game series is my favorite series on the DS. The newest in the saga: Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies is out now this week on the 3DS eShop. I’m a little sad that it’s not getting a retail version, but if digital is the only way that Capcom could release it in the US and still make money, then I’ll happily download it that way! Just need to get me a Nintendo Points card! Anyway, Phoenix Wright games are like point and click adventures where you search crime scenes to find clues and evidence, and then use what you find in court to catch witnesses telling lies. One of the best things about these games is the cast of colorful and fun characters, so in honor of the release of the newest game, here are my top five favorite Phoenix Wright characters!
Reader Review: Escape Goat (PC)
Now this game looks like my cup of tea, but since my friend Leroy is the Steam PC expert, I had him review this one, too. I just might have to make a trip to his house sometime to play it (or I could download it myself). You know you want to read a review about a game starring a goat, right? Yeah, you do!
Ninja Climb (iPad)
Girl Fight (PS3, 360)
