Wii Music
I decided to take a different approach to reviewing Wii Music and just ramble about it. While a bad E3 demo and toy-like gameplay have plagued Wii Music’s reputation, the former band geek in me still wanted to try it. And plus, despite what they all said, I still had fun with it at PAX. So how is it? Read on to find out:
Game Review: Sam & Max: Season One (Wii)
Sam & Max aren’t your regular police force…they’re the Freelance Police. Sam is a no-nonsense dog detective and his pal Max is a hyperkinetic rabbity thing. For more than 20 years they’ve been serving their brand of justice on the pages of underground comic books, on a Saturday morning cartoon, and in some popular computer adventure games. Now they’re ready to take on the Nintendo Wii with all six hilarious episodes of their Season One adventures from the PC.
Game Review: Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility (Wii)
Natsume’s popular farming simulation series of games, Harvest Moon, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year (has it really been around that long?). And so in honor of such a bountiful harvest, Natsume is cultivating Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility for the Nintendo Wii. Is the newest addition a bumper crop or a dust bowl? Read on to find out:

Dead Space Cassarole
For a disgusting adult flavored holiday treat mix two cups of James Cameron’s Aliens and ID Software’s Doom 3 as a base. Then add a healthy dollop of Bioshock, System Shock 1 & 2, and pretty much every other occult/space themed horror 3D shooter. Cook until a fork comes cleanly from its bleeding and lacerated heart … then frost in goo made from Resident Evil IV pureed with creme d’Half-Life 2.
Dead Space Review
It’s dark, steamy, scary and filled with wildly careening lights. There are strange noises, blood smears on the wall, and whenever you do find someone – there’s no way you can call them a “survivor.” Abominations, corpses festooned with fangs, claws, and elongated limbs lurch then leap toward you. You fear that this IS the crew that survived. You’re alone but video and audio recorders tell you the story of what happened. God get mentions now and then. You hit pause, yep, you’re playing DOOM 3.
Saints Row 2: 9 Things Parents Should Know
It’s the most controversial game that somehow garners no controversary even though it’s worse – in more ways than one – than Grand Theft Auto IV. Here’s some things parents should know, 9 things actually, before bringing this gang warfare game into their homes. Oh, one of the “things” is a minigame called “Ho’ing!”
RPGWatch: The Whole Game in My Hand #11
Late in 2005 some friends at RPGDot came to me with the idea to do summary articles on the state on RPG gaming on the major handhelds. The release of the DS and particularly the PSP had intrigued many RPG fans who were not interested in consoles (wait, that sounds like me!), and so I put together three articles – one for the GBA, one for the DS and the last one for the PSP. The articles were very well received and when RPGWatch launched late in 2006, I was asked to update the state of handheld RPG’s once more. That is how ‘The Whole Game in My Hand’ was born.
Game Review: Samba de Amigo (Wii)
The short-lived but beloved Sega Dreamcast video game console had its share of innovative and uniquely fun games. One of those was the music/rhythm title Samba de Amigo. Players would shake maraca peripheral controllers (sold separately) to the beat of the music at either high, middle, or low intervals, depending on the on-screen cues. The maracas used a sensor bar to detect height, similar to how the sensor bar on the Wii detects the motion of the remotes. So it only seems natural to port Samba de Amigo to the Wii. Does it still have what it shakes? Read on to find out:
