Cary is Looking Forward in 2013
Happy New Year! Well, I’ve already done my Game of the Year blog, (if you missed it, I’d like to encourage you to go read it as well). So now I’ll list some games I’m looking forward to playing and maybe reviewing in 2013! This isn’t a complete list, as not every game in 2013 has been announced yet, of course. So I’m sure they’ll be others I’ll play in 2013 as well. This is just some that I know about right now. So let’s get started!
Cary’s Best Game of the Year 2012 Awards Show!
Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to the “Cary’s Best Video Games of the Year 2012 Awards Show!” Now, keep in mind that this is MY list only. No other outside opinions contributed. And since I’m only one person, I can’t play ALL the games out there, so some of your favorites might have been missed. Expect some surprises and games you might not have heard of, or ones I would’ve even picked! So without further ado, here’s my awards show!
A Most Mizerable Christmas (Book)
In the 15 plus years that I’ve been writing for newspapers and Web sites (including this one), I’ve written about all manner of video game reviews, edutainment titles, controllers, accessories, and gadgets, and even a couple of movie reviews. But I don’t think I’ve ever done a book review before now! So here’s a short mini-review! A Most Mizerable Christmas is a children’s book written by Mick Foley, a WWE Legend. The story tells about what happens when a school bully learns a lesson about Christmas.
UNPLUGGED: HOLIDAY GUIDE 2012
Each year I try to put together a little something to help gamers spend more face-to-face time together. We missed last year but we’re roaring back in 2012 to provide you with some great examples of boardgames to get you and your family gaming. You might not find all these titles at your local mega-mart but many can be found online or in a friendly local game store. Boardgames are relatively timeless so feel free to delve into previous guides for additional advice.

Mario & Luigi’s RPG Roots
In honor of Paper Mario: Sticker Star being recently released, I thought I’d take a look at each of Mario’s (and Luigi’s) other RPG games and share my personal experiences and opinions of them. My list will go from least favorite to most favorite, but it’s not a definitive list, and even the ones at the bottom of my list are still fantastic games. I like them all!

Ode to Q*bert
Well I just saw the Wreck-It Ralph movie this past weekend. I don’t want to talk about the movie too much because I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone. I enjoyed the movie, but the only problem I had with it was they show too much of the cool stuff and video game references in the previews. But that’s a fault a lot of movies have. But one thing that most everyone knows about the movie already (probably) is that Q*bert is in it. Q*bert was one of my favorite arcade games as a kid, and it was one of the few coin-op titles that could pull me away from Pac-Man if only for a short while (along with Pengo, Mappy, and Frogger). So in honor of him being in the Wreck-It Ralph movie, here’s a tribute blog for Q*bert!
Unexpectedly Scary Games!
Every year around Halloween, people write blogs and article features about the scariest video games. And all the usuals make the list: Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, etc. It’s all games you EXPECT to be scary. But what about the games that you don’t expect to be scary; and they end up having at least one part that’s a little spooky or disturbing or startling? Well I’ve picked out a few of those games in this blog that had something in them that personally freaked me out, and I wasn’t expecting it. Get ready to be surprised!
I’m a (Silly) Fighter
Recently I reviewed Dead or Alive 5. Whenever I play a fighting game that has characters in it that are kind of cool, I like to write a blog featuring all the characters in that game. So we’ll do it with Dead or Alive 5. But be warned, this blog is silly!
