Pokemon Toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals!
Just a heads up for all you Pokemon fans (and parents of little Pokemaniacs). McDonalds currently has Pokemon toys in their Happy Meals. You get a Pokemon figure and a card for the trading card game based on the critters from the recent Pokemon Black & White game. I don’t know what all the characters are, but I hope that one of them is the piggy! You can check out more here. Oink!
Graduation Congratulations!
Last weekend, right when I got back from E3, my brother Jeff graduated high school. That’s a huge milestone, so in honor of his accomplishment, here’s a blog about video games that we’ve enjoyed playing together over the years.
LA Noire
Rockstar Games, the company so rich and powerful they feel they can add an “e” to the end of a perfectly good French word like “Noir” just because they feel like it, has done it again. Redefined the action/adventure sandbox game. The game is amazing and one I will remember fondly for a long time but LA Noire is a flawed gem. After a torturous development process, Rockstar polished it up and shipped it out and created what amounts to a faithfully noir police procedural hampered by an ill-executed overarching story. CSI was the direction to go, because the crime is the thing.
E3-Time Packin’, Packin’ in the E3 (Time)
The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is coming up soon, and I’ll be going this year! Yay! So I’ve been thinking about what I need to pack and bring with me. Going to E3 isn’t like a regular trip where you can just throw some clothes in a suitcase and go. I’ve been going to E3 for several years now, and I’ve collected quite a few handy tips on what to bring and do at the show. So I thought I’d share some with you in blog form. These tips are also good for other big gaming conventions, like PAX. And this blog will serve double duty as my own personal packing checklist. Ha ha! Oh, and if you can get the reference in my title, you win a solid.
Cary’s Gaming Update 5/23
Well since it’s been so long since I posted anything here, I thought I’d write a blog just to let you all know I’m still alive and fill you in on what I’ve been up to lately. I haven’t written a game review in a while. It’s just such a SLOW time right now as far as game releases go. I think it’s just because E3 is right around the corner, so game companies aren’t going to announce anything or release anything new for a while.
Video Game Breakfast Cereals
The other day I played a trick on my mom. I nearly convinced her that they had just made a Portal breakfast cereal, due to the popularity of Portal 2. I said the cereal had blue rings and orange rings just like the portals in the game, and the box had the two co-op robots holding the bowl and spoon! But it got me to thinking about video game based breakfast cereals I remember as a kid, so I thought that in this blog, I’d go over the ones I can recall. So get out your bowl, spoon, and milk, and let’s begin!
Cary’s Favorite Video Game Villains
In less than a week as of this writing, one of the most highly anticipated sequels of this game generation will be released. And while I’m looking forward to the creative puzzle action gameplay of Portal 2, honestly what I can’t wait to see and hear is the hilarious shenanigans of Portal’s antagonist: the evil computer GlaDOS. GlaDOS quickly became one of my favorite video game villains after playing the first Portal, and that got me to thinking about other great video game bad guys. So in this blog, I’m going to list my favorite video game villains.
Okamiden Art Gallery
A couple of weeks ago, Capcom and GamingWithChildren.com teamed up for an awesome Okamiden Art Contest with adorable puppy prizes! We had so many great entries that I wanted to showcase a handful of them here. Click to check out some positively preposterous puppy pictures! And if you haven’t already, don’t forget to read our review of Okamiden for DS, too! It’s an excellent game!
Boxer the Unboxer ‘Unboxes’ the Nintendo 3DS!
Cary’s Best of DS, Final Part: Weird, Wacky, and My All Time Favorite DS Series Of All!
With the upcoming launch of the 3DS in the US, I wanted to take a look back at my favorite games on the DS now that the handheld is in its twilight years. Each of my blogs in this series has covered one or two game genres, (go back and read them if you missed any). But there are some games on the DS that just don’t fit any group, so we’ll go over my favorites in that category in this final blog. And lastly, we’ll look at my favorite overall game series on the DS!
