The Games of Touchmaster 2
Have you ever been to a restaurant or bar and seen a little gaming machine on the corner where people could use the touch screen to play simple games? Chances are that was a Touchmaster arcade machine, and they’re made by Midway. Midway’s made a couple of these Touchmaster collections on the DS, and recently I snagged the sequel for 20 bucks since I like to collect arcade compilations. And as I tend to do with these things, here’s a blog briefly detailing the games included in Touchmaster 2.
This Week in Games: May 17 – 23
Do you remember when the new releases coming each week had us thinking that 2009 would never see the typical spring and summer drought? Well, that seems like ages ago, as proven with yet another thin week of mediocre releases. Big releases other than the cover image? Probably the biggest are Bionic Commando for XBOX360 and PS3, the sequel Bionic Commando for the Wii, and another movie tie-in Terminator Salvation for PC, XBOX360 and PS3. Hopefully Jagged Alliance DS actually gets released this week! Check out the list! more…
Wahoo! It’s Cary’s Klonoa Blog!
In honor of the Klonoa remake being recently released for the Wii, I figured I’d write a blog detailing all the games in the Klonoa series, and my personal experiences with them. Those who’ve known me for a while know I’m a huge fan of the Klonoa games. It’s pretty easy to tell, really. Back when I used to visit more message boards, my on screen ‘name’ was always Klonoa. Even now, my Xbox Live GamerTag name is Klonoa360! The Klonoa series just really match my gaming tastes and personality. So come along and let’s take a tour of the land of dreams!
Game Review: Space Invaders Extreme (Xbox Live)
One of gaming’s most iconic titles, Space Invaders, has gone extreme on Xbox Live Arcade. Released last year on the PSP and DS portable console system, this isn’t your father’s Space Invaders. Featuring new gameplay elements, powers, online and local versus and co-op play, all with trippy visuals and sound, Space Invaders Extreme is a must download for classic game fans.
Little Mac’s Punch-Out!
“Dance like a fly, Sting like a mosquito!” says your Trainer in the following video. Most folks just a bit younger than me fondly recall Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out. I don’t, I’ve never played it. Oh-ho! But I have played the arcade version of Punch Out – Glass Joe, Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, but no Tyson – enough to believe that all the quarters I’ve spent on it would add up to … well I could use some cash for a press release or two! Click “More” for the funny satirical video advertising the game, new form Nintendo. more…

Put it all together and what does that spell? Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms, Single Dads out there! Thanks GamerMoms! Couldn’t live without you! Keep gaming – or at least suffering it well. Happy Mother’s Day from GamerDad and the GamerFamily.
This Week in Games: May 10 – 16
Happy Mother’s Day – hope you are doing something special for the mom’s and wives out there! I am rather thrilled this week to put Sacred 2 for XBOX360 and PS3 as the cover image for two reasons: first Ascaron is having financial troubles so I was concerned that it wouldn’t release at all, and second because early reports indicate it is as good as I indicated in my review of the PC version for VGBlogger. Other than that there is Battlestations: Pacific and a bunch of games making their scond or third appearance on the list. Hopefully some of them (and also last week’s Jagged Alliance DS) will be released this week! Check out the list! more…
Game Review: Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures: Episode 2: The Last Resort (PC, Xbox LIVE)
When Wallace and Gromit’s seaside holiday plans get rained out, they make the best of the situation by turning their flooded basement into an indoor beach resort and invite their neighborhood guests for a rainy day holiday. Little do they know that their resort is about to become the scene of a murder! Well, OK, it’s a family game, there is no murder! But someone does get bonked on the noggin for a bit of temporary amnesia, and it’s up to inventor Wallace to use his Detect-O-Matic (with a little help from his clue-sniffing pup Gromit), to solve the case and find out whodunit!
Adventures in Green Dining – Mother’s Day DS Lite
Spring is in the air, and Nintendo has just released a new color of the DS Lite to match. When I first saw photos, the bright spring green color cried out to me (Half my wardrobe, and often my hair, is green.) Conveniently released a week before Mother’s Day, the new DS Lite comes with the Personal Trainer: Cooking cartridge and a nice floral patterned canvas carrying case. At first glance, it looks like a great Mother’s Day present for my wife, until I realized that it might come across as a glorified cookbook. I’ve been married long enough to know better than to get my wife a cookbook for Mother’s Day. Perhaps I have a better idea…
Happy “Mama’s” Day!
In honor of Mother’s Day coming up this next weekend (you didn’t forget, did you?), I thought I’d do a blog about one of video games most famous mothers: Cooking (and now Gardening) Mama. Happy Mother’s Day! Let’s get cooking!
