Merry Christmas from GamerDad and the rest of the crew! We’re going on a hiatus until New Years and we’ve got a lot of cool stuff planned. For now let Linda, the kids, and I say “Merry Christmas GamerDad crew. Mike, Cary, Jeff, Colleen, Dr. Matt, Dave, Sheila and all of your families too. Merry Christmas to all of you readers too. Peggle Goes Apple

One of my favorite games this year was Popcap’s genius bit of time distortion (it goes really fast when you play this game) known as Peggle. I heartily recommend going to Popcap’s site and downloading it now. But first, here’s some good news. Popcap has a Half-Life 2 themed version of Peggle available for PC on STEAM. And they’ve just announced that Peggle is now available for PowerPC and Intel based Macs and is also now available for click wheel versions of the iPod. I can’t recommend this game enough folks. I wish they’d make an iPhone version! Great for adults and kids. Grab it from Popcap.com and tell ’em GamerDad sent you!

Four senators known for their anti-gaming stance have decided to weigh in on the waning Manhunt 2 controversy by sending a rather pointed letter to the head of the ESRB asking, among other things, that the game’s M rating be reconsidered.

I am a big fan of Indiana Jones and am hoping the next movie will be deserving of the legacy. But this has nothing to do with that. Today I am talking about a different ‘indie’ – Independent games.

In an age when there is so much made of how kids are becoming detached and lack responsibility due – according to some – in part to spending too much time playing video games, it is sad to see news of where a teen student tried to make a difference and was shut down by the adults who are supposed to be serving his needs and those of all of our children.

Something cool happened over Thanksgiving. Yeah, I know it is almost Christmas, but it has been so crazy lately that my wife just downloaded the pictures from our Thanksgiving trip and I got a look at a couple that really struck a chord with me. We were at her sister’s house and her kids were home from college, so there were all eight of us around together. My boys brought their Wii and it became a staple of our daily fun. But this picture of something even more amazing.

Time for ‘die & retry’ to just die!

So I have been trying to finish up the PSP game Medal of Honor Heroes 2 on the hardest difficulty level this weekend, and despite having finished it already on the lower difficulty level I am still having to grind my way through area after area due to an old fall-back of game design -‘die & retry’.
