Petz Beach & Petz Countryside (3DS)

PETZBEACH_BOXGet ready to start your new life in a village by the seashore or in the country. But you won’t be alone!  You’ll get to adopt a Petz pup to help you make friends and help the village grow!  Petz Beach & Petz Countryside is like a cross between two different games: Nintendogs + Cats and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.  It’s a virtual pet simulator like Nintendogs, where you use the stylus to take care of your new friends.  But it’s also like Animal Crossing in that you and your Petz help out neighbors, catch fish, bugs, and shells for museums, and buy decorations for your house and village.

Poptropica: Forgotten Islands (3DS)

POPTROP_BOXPoptropica is a popular online game for kids, and the author who wrote the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books helped make Poptropica, so that’s kind of interesting. I’m not a fan of either, but I’m sure it’s something kids would like.  Now you can have the fun of Poptropica on the 3DS with Poptropica: Forgotten Islands.  It’s kind of a follow-up to Poptropica: Adventures on the DS.  In the new game, explore small islands and help out villagers and collect mysterious ancient artifacts in this 2-D platforming adventure.

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 (360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS)

PAC2_BOXOne of the most popular video game icons, Pac-Man, is still going strong after all these years. There is even a computer animated cartoon on the Disney XD cable channel, and it even has a second season!  I’m surprised at that, because the cartoon itself isn’t that good.  Last year, Bandai Namco Games made a video game based on Pac-Man’s new cartoon adventures, and despite being based on a lackluster cartoon license, the game itself was actually pretty good.  So now it’s a year later and we have a sequel to Pac-Man’s cartoon 3-D platforming romp, and while it’s more of the same, it’s still a fun little game.  They just added some characters from the end of the first season and into the second.

PegGoo Pop (iPad)

PPEGGOO_BOXegGoo Pop is an iOS and Google Play downloadable title that’s free-to-play and very similar to other games like Peggle (reviewed on iPad here). Styled after Pachinko machines, your job is to aim a turret at the top of the playfield using the touch screen, and then release your finger to fire the ball and it’ll bounce around.  Try to make it hit as many targets as you can.  You can tilt your tablet to try and steer the ball as it bounces, but it doesn’t help much.

Skylanders Trap Team Extravaganza!

SKYLANDERS_LOGOOne of the most beloved video game/toy lines for kids is back for its fourth entry! In this one, what’s good is bad and what’s bad is good because now you can capture bad guys and turn them good and play as them alongside the Skylanders!  The story in this one is that a group of evil villains wreaked havoc on the Skylands eons ago, until they were captured by a group of Skylanders known as the Trap Team, who used crystal-like weapons made of “Traptanium” and sealed the baddies up in an impenetrable prison.  But now, the main Skylander villain Kaos has broken the bad guys out of prison, and sent the Trap Team and pieces of Traptanium to Earth, where they turned into small statues.  Now it’s up to YOU, the Portal Master, to send the heroes back to the Skylands to save the day, and use special Traptanium pieces to capture villains and turn them into good guys, too!  Skylanders Trap Team is available for all major current game consoles, but reviewed on Wii U here.

The Silly Female Fighters of Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!!

ARCANAICON2I just got done reviewing a game called Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!! It’s a 2-D fighter featuring a cast of anime-styled female characters.  A lot of times when I play a new fighting game, I like to write a blog about the characters in that game.  At first I wasn’t going to do that with this one, but once I played it, I discovered that there a quite a few neat characters in it, and I thought it would be fun to write a little blog about them after all.  Keep in mind that I may miss secret characters and leave out details here and there.  But I’m just writing this as a fun, filler blog so you’re just going to have to deal with my nonsense.  So let’s take a look at the characters in this silly fighter.
