Dark Void is a recently released Capcom game for the big consoles, and to drum up interest for it, they did something incredibly clever: promote the game with an 8-bit DSiWare download called Dark Void Zero. I don’t have any interest in the main Dark Void game, but I’d have to say that Dark Void Zero is probably more fun, especially if you’re a classic Capcom NES fan!

Back around the year 2000 or so, the cult favorite first person shooter, Serious Sam, was released on PC. While most FPS games were starting to gravitate toward more story-driven gameplay around this time, Serious Sam stood out by being more straight up arcade action. Now you can relive the classic FPS title with shiny new high-def graphics with Serious Sam HD on PC and Xbox LIVE (Xbox LIVE version reviewed here).

I picked up a quirky Wii game recently real cheap: Help Wanted. Yes, it’s yet another mini-game collection on the Wii, but Help Wanted has a little higher air of quality around it. There are 50 mini-games based on different real life occupations, so I thought it might be fun to go through them all on this blog!

Meet Lukus. He may look like just a little boy, but Lukus is actually a tree spirit. It’s every tree spirit’s dream to take root somewhere special and become a tree. If sunlight touches Lukus, he’ll turn into a tree, so tree spirits must walk behind shadows until they find the perfect spot. That’s why every tree spirit is also accompanied by a light spirit, who can shine and cast shadows on magic obelisk pillars to grant them safe passage from place to place. Play as Lukus’ light spirit Popo as you guide young Lukus in The Magic Obelisk, a downloadable action puzzler on WiiWare.

The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces is an arcade dogfight simulation game for the Wii. It’s also based on a Japanese anime cartoon movie. The film is set in an alternate reality where there are no wars, so companies stage fake battles to keep the peace. A new breed of pilots is now being used to fly the planes: genetically engineered kids who never age. Yeah it doesn’t make any sense to me either. But hey, neither do most other anime cartoons. All you really need to know is that the team behind Namco Bandai’s Ace Combat series worked on this game, so this is essentially Ace Combat on the Wii. And trust me, that’s a GOOD thing!
