Lode Runner Classic (iPad)

LODE_BOXMy first gaming system was an Apple ][+ back in the early 80’s, which seems weird to think about today since I’m mostly a console gamer now. But back then while everyone else was complaining about the poor port of Pac-Man for the Atari 2600, I was enjoying a near arcade perfect version on my old Apple PC. Some of my other favorites included Aquatron and Spare Change. Another one I played quite a bit was Lode Runner. Now you can enjoy the classic Lode Runner game on various iOS devices and smartphones (game played on iPad here).

Horsing Around With the My Little Pony iPad Game and Cartoon

PONY_BOXOne of Hasbro’s most popular and well-known toy lines for girls: My Little Pony, has gotten an extra boost in recent years thanks to a fairly new cartoon based on the toys that’s surprisingly a higher quality show than what you may expect (there are reasons for that which we’ll go into later). So in honor of the release of the My Little Pony iPad game, based on the cartoon and toys, here’s a blog featuring a review of the game and overview of the cartoon show!

Hungry Hungry Hippos (iPad)

HIPPO_BOXTwo of my favorite board games when I was a little kid were Connect Four (pretty sneaky, sis), and Hungry Hungry Hippos. Especially the hippo game because it required no skill to play, and it made a heck of a racket! Later on they made a coin op version of Hungry Hungry Hippos in arcades. The balls automatically came out the middle, the computer would control any empty hippos mechanically, and you could win tickets, too. If I had enough room, I’d be tempted to buy one at an arcade auction. Now the hippos are entering the 21st century with the Hungry Hungry Hippos iPad app, and best of all, it’s TRULY free-to-play! No gimmicks or extra things to buy!
