WizKids RPG Miniatures Update

Another round of nifty little plastic figures have been released by WizKids. A new line of minis complements the recent Pathfinder Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path. In addition, two special sets of player-character minis have been released under the Dungeons and Dragon label. The pair of releases are interesting because each contains the same six characters, but the first release shows them at a low level while the follow-up release arms the miniatures with much more advanced and/or epic looking weapons, armor, and tools. As usual, these prepainted minis aren’t cheap, but they’re fun to have on hand to help set the tone and sort through the complexities of battle.
Pathfinder 2017 Update (RPG)

The Pathfinder RPG keeps chugging along with recent releases including a remake of the urban-based adventure-path (campaign), the Curse of the Crimson Throne. Other supplements include the Bestiary 6 (with a number of high-level monsters) and the Adventurer’s Guide full of secret and not-so-secret organizations for your world. I’ve also recently found out Paizo has even made the content of well over a dozen of the game’s rules and supplements freely accessible online!
Import Amiibo

As many of you may know, I’m a big fan of collecting Nintendo’s amiibo figures. Most amiibo figures are released in the US and Japan, and some are harder to get than others. I’ve been able to get most of the amiibo figures I own in stores in the US, but I have had to import a few in the past. But did you know that as of this writing, there are some amiibo figures that are only available in Japan? Well I recently imported those so I thought I’d go over them now.
Cary’s Best Games of 2017 SO FAR Awards Show!

Can you believe this year is already half over? What I like to do this time of year is write about the best games of the year so far. Everyone is all excited over recent E3 announcements, and most of the really good titles come out during the Christmas season at the tail end of the year, and the games that come out earlier tend to be forgotten. So this is where those games get their due. Keep in mind that no outside opinions went into the making of this list. It’s just my own picks. And if a game is missing from my list, it either didn’t appeal to me as much, or I just simply haven’t played it yet. Can’t play all the games out there, you know! Luckily I have to say that this year we’ve already gotten way better games than we did at this point last year, so that’s a good thing. So another Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 for short), one of the biggest video game trade shows, has come to a close. And yet again, I didn’t get to go this year. But that won’t stop me from writing about it! So here’s my takeaway points from this year’s E3.
New Fire Emblem amiibo

I just got a new two-pack set of amiibo figures, so I thought I’d share with you what they look like and such. Apparently they’re characters from a new Fire Emblem game. You’ll have to forgive me, but since I’m not much of a Fire Emblem fan, I don’t have much to say about these figures.
Nyko Peripherals (PS4)

Sometimes the tangle of wires coming out of your game system is just a pain in the neck. If you want to simplify your setup, Nyko has several options to make your gaming gear easier to store and charge. The Charge Block serves as a drop and forget controller rest and charger while the SpeakerCom is a cheap and easy way to play without needing a headset and mic.
Dice Stars (Boardgame)

In Dice Stars, players choose dice from a common pool to best fill in their scorepad. Choosing stars is important as they can double or zero out sections of your score. Players roll dice into a common pool and then choose sets of dice in the pool to score on their pad. A quick, 20 minute game provides players with interesting choices to mitigate luck and provide strategic play, while still providing some of the highs and lows of a dice-based game.

Discover the World of Super Mario in McDonald’s Happy Meals

Looks like McDonald’s is doing Mario toys in their Happy Meals again. I don’t know when they started or how long this promotion lasts, so I wanted to post this as quickly as possible so it would at least be topical for a little while. Click on the link to see pictures and read more details.
Legends of Andor (Boardgame)

Legends of Andor is a cooperative fantasy adventure boardgame, where the players combine efforts to achieve an overarching goal while simultaneously protecting the kingdom from attack. Players range the countryside combatting evil and growing in power. Fully cooperative, the players race against the game clock governed by a deck of cards that slowly ramps up the difficulty of the game until the players ultimately win or lose.
