An Important note from GamerDad! UPDATED
The Newest Nintendo – DSi
Nintendo knows when they have a good thing going. They have dominated the handheld gaming market for many years, often with progressive upgrades rather than trying to build up an entirely new user base with each new handheld machine. This spring, they have released the newest upgrade to the DS line of handhelds, the DSi. By removing the Gameboy Advance slot, they have clearly staked out an attitude of looking towards the future rather than the past. Beyond that significant hardware reduction, there are numerous software improvements that make it a larger leap forward than the leap from Nintendo DS to the DS Lite.
E3: The After Days
Well, the big video game convention, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 for short), is finally over. I didn’t attend this year’s show, but I read enough news about it that I decided to write a blog about the things at the show that caught my interest. Of course, since my tastes in games are a little out there, I won’t be going over a lot of the big titles shown. Just the ones I like.
My Blog, My Way
Just a hodgepodge blog this week, folks. Thought I’d share with you some of my recent gaming endeavors like going to the arcade auction, playing unusual games like My World, My Way, downloading gems such as PictoBits and Bubble Bobble Plus, as well as some other random junk I can think up!

Little Mac’s Punch-Out!
“Dance like a fly, Sting like a mosquito!” says your Trainer in the following video. Most folks just a bit younger than me fondly recall Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out. I don’t, I’ve never played it. Oh-ho! But I have played the arcade version of Punch Out – Glass Joe, Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, but no Tyson – enough to believe that all the quarters I’ve spent on it would add up to … well I could use some cash for a press release or two! Adventures in Green Dining – Mother’s Day DS Lite
Spring is in the air, and Nintendo has just released a new color of the DS Lite to match. When I first saw photos, the bright spring green color cried out to me (Half my wardrobe, and often my hair, is green.) Conveniently released a week before Mother’s Day, the new DS Lite comes with the Personal Trainer: Cooking cartridge and a nice floral patterned canvas carrying case. At first glance, it looks like a great Mother’s Day present for my wife, until I realized that it might come across as a glorified cookbook. I’ve been married long enough to know better than to get my wife a cookbook for Mother’s Day. Perhaps I have a better idea…
Happy “Mama’s” Day!
In honor of Mother’s Day coming up this next weekend (you didn’t forget, did you?), I thought I’d do a blog about one of video games most famous mothers: Cooking (and now Gardening) Mama. Happy Mother’s Day! Let’s get cooking!
