Monster High is a popular toy line for girls where the dolls are based on various monsters. In the game, a dark genie has taken over Monster High School, and now the ghoul girls must delve into a magic lantern to collect 13 mirror shards to save their school. Your kids can play as their favorite monster girls in this 3-D platform jumping adventure (Wii version reviewed here).

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures (3DS)

Last week I reviewed Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, a new 3-D platforming romp starring video game icon Pac-Man and based on the new computer animated cartoon on Disney XD. Well, the 3DS version is a totally different game, with a new story and 2-D platforming gameplay. So I decided to review it separately.

In the popular long-running Ben 10 animated series on Cartoon Network, boy Ben saves the universe by changing into powerful alien beings with a special wristwatch-like device. In the newest video game based on the franchise: Ben 10 Omniverse 2, there are two different types of gameplay: continuously running platformer and arena style beat ‘em up (360 version reviewed here).
Power Rangers: Megaforce (3DS)

Back in the early 90’s, my little brothers were very young but they still enjoyed watching Power Rangers, which was new at the time. I can’t believe that Power Rangers is still on TV, and now you can play a game based on the latest version of the show: Power Rangers: Megaforce, on your 3DS.
Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-bit Land (3DS)

My current favorite Cartoon Network animated TV program is Regular Show. While Mordecai and Rigby have been slacking around in games on the Internet and tablets for some time now, this is their first time featured in a console game. In Mordecai and Rigby in 8-bit Land, the two get a package in the mail with a brand new game console inside. But when they plug it in and turn it on, they get sucked in! Now you must help them escape the challenges of an 8-bit 80’s inspired world in this 2-D platform jumping/shooter hybrid.
Jewel Master: Cradle of Egypt 2 (3DS)

In this match-three style puzzler, your job is to build up Egypt by lining up three of the same kinds of shapes to make them disappear. It’s very similar to Bejeweled, but in this one, you finish rounds by breaking tiles underneath by clearing out items in front of them. Once you do that, it’s off to the next round. Use the stylus and touch screen to tap on items and switch them to adjacent ones to line up three in a row.

For more than 30 years, Pac-Man has delighted gamers all across the world, and he’s still popular after all this time. In fact, Pac-Man has a brand new cartoon airing on Disney XD right now called Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. I wrote an article about it a couple of months ago, you can check it out here (and while you’re at it, you can read about the iPad game that goes along with it). Now there is a home console video game based on Pac-Man’s new cartoon adventures. It’s available for most of the current consoles, but reviewed on Wii U here. I’ll be reviewing the 3DS version separately, as it’s a different kind of game. In the Wii U title, the leader of the ghosts Betrayus has stolen a giant freeze ray, and now Pac-Man and friends must stop him from using it to turn everyone into Pac-sicles. Help Pac-Man chomp ghosts and overcome obstacles in this 3-D platform jumping adventure.
BeyBlade: Evolution (3DS)

After all these years, kids still play with tops. But now, they battle with each other with custom tops and arenas for them to spin and bash around in. The most popular battle top toy line, BeyBlade, is still around after all these years. And now there is a new video game based on this franchise using the unique capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS handheld.
