Welcome to the Nintendo Land tour!
Welcome everyone! As you may or may not know, I just got a Wii U (click here to read my unboxing article). I’ve got two games for it so far. New Super Mario Bros. U is fun, but it’s really just another paint by numbers, play it safe Mario game. And there’s nothing wrong with that and it’s still fun, but not inspiring to write a lot about. However, Nintendo Land is great and I like it so much, I’m going to be your tour guide for a quick visit and run through of the park’s attractions! So stay with the group, and keep your hands and feet inside the blog at all times.
Bratz Fashion Boutique (3DS, DS)
The Trash Pack (3DS, DS)
Little boys just love gross stuff. It was that way when I was little, as Garbage Pail Kids trading cards were the hottest things around the playground (I never got into them, personally, but they were popular). I guess this generation’s gross toy is The Trash Pack, a collection of little miniature figures made to look like garbage monsters. And now you can play with them on your 3DS and DS (3DS version reviewed here).
Lalaloopsy: Carnival of Friends (3DS, DS)
Lalaloopsy is a line of popular button-eyed, yarn-haired dolls made to look like they were sewn from fabric. Now your little girl can join the Lalaloopsy friends on an adventure on the 3DS and DS (3DS version reviewed here). Peanut Big Top has just opened a carnival and invited all her friends, and it’s up to your child to help find them all!
Wreck-It Ralph (3DS, Wii)
Based on the recently released hit Disney computer animated movie, Wreck-It Ralph on Wii and 3DS takes place after the events of the film (3DS version reviewed here). So you’ll want to see the movie before playing this game if you don’t want things spoiled for you. I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, so it’s worth seeing. Anyway, in the game, Ralph finds a lone Cy-Bug egg in the Sugar Rush game world while cheering on Vanellope in the Daily Roster Race. The Cy-Bug hatches and multiplies and swarms into three of the game worlds. Now it’s up to Wreck-It Ralph and Fix-It Felix Jr. to team up and stop those bugs once and for all!
SEGA Vintage Collection: Toe Jam & Earl (360, PS3)
Back in the early 90’s when rap music was first starting to become popular, SEGA created some contemporary video game characters to go along with the trend. Toe Jam & Earl are two funky hip aliens who were big time stars back in the SEGA Genesis 16-bit days. Now you can enjoy the first two games in the series with SEGA Vintage Collection: Toe Jam & Earl downloadable for Xbox 360 (both games are also sold separately on PS3).
Team Umizoomi and Dora’s Fantastic Flight (DS)
Two of Nick Jr.’s most popular stars are teaming up for an adventure! Dora the Explorer and her monkey pal Boots are getting ready for a ride in a blimp. But Swiper the Fox and the Shape Bandit have teamed up as well to swipe all the airship parts. Now it’s up to Dora and Boots to work together with Team Umizoomi to recover the lost pieces of the airship so they can all take a ride in this 2-D platform jumping adventure geared toward preschoolers on the Nintendo DS.
Bubble Guppies (DS)
Bubble Guppies is a popular Nick Jr. show about a group of mermaid kids who attend an underwater school taught by Mr. Grouper. Now your preschoolers can learn with the fishes with Bubble Guppies on Nintendo DS. One of the Bubble Guppies (sorry I can’t remember all their names), sees a race car while swimming to school. So when she arrives, Mr. Grouper has a surprise for all them. They’ll be taking a field trip to the farm and the city to pick up cones to put on the race track, and they’ll be able to participate in the race, too!
Nickelodeon Dance 2 (Wii, Xbox 360 Kinect)
Dance games are super popular, and now your young preschoolers have another dance game of their very own with Nickelodeon Dance 2 on Wii and Xbox 360 Kinect (Wii version reviewed here). This sequel features new songs from Nick Jr. shows like Dora the Explorer, Bubble Guppies, The Fresh Beat Band, Backyardigans, Team Umizoomi, and more! And your child’s Nick Jr. friends from all those shows are invited to dance at the party, too! Even Swiper the Fox! (Yay, Swiper’s the best).
