Welcome to GamerDad: Gaming with Children. My name is Andrew S. Bub - the GamerDad - and I've been writing about videogames, movies, and children for over 15 years now. After working as a magazine journalist, I switched gears to write about how media violence affects children, educating parents about them, and working closely with magazines, newspapers, major retailers and even politicians. GamerDad is an internationally recognized expert in this field. Games, movies and media are fun, kids and families love them, they aren't going away. So join me in cutting through the hype and lets have a real conversation about the things that matter: Video Games, Violent Media, and their supposed effect on children and families.

Eets Munchies (iPad)
In this new iOS game (reviewed on iPad here), help a hungry little critter get his snack on! In the game, you don’t control the hungry little guy directly, but you must place objects to keep him out of danger as he walks about the levels eating all the vittles he comes across. In a way, it kind of reminds me of Lemmings.
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (PS3)
Grandpa and the Zombies (iPad)
Weapon Shop de Omasse (3DS)
In role playing video games, you generally play as some valiant hero, usually a regal knight, noble thief, powerful wizard, and many times all three! But have you ever thought about some of the other characters who help you on your quest? Like the owner of the shop that sells you weapons for instance. Without them, you probably wouldn’t get very far. Well now you can play as a weapon shop owner and blacksmith with Weapon Shop de Omasse, a very creative and unusual downloadable title for the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

Cary’s Top Five Favorite Green-Clad Video Game Characters!
It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day! And you know what that means? We all have to wear green! Green is my favorite color, and I have some Irish in my family so St. Patrick’s Day is a pretty fun holiday for me. So in honor of that, here is a blog about my favorite green video game characters! They’re always ready for St. Patrick’s Day! These are in no particular order, by the way.
Inazuma Eleven (3DS)
Inazuma Eleven is a super popular video game in Japan and Europe. It’s spawned a few sequels, an anime cartoon, and even a card game! And now the original title is finally coming to the US with 3DS enhancements and only downloadable on the Nintendo eShop. But what KIND of game is Inazuma Eleven? Get ready for it…it’s a soccer-themed RPG! Yup, you heard right.
Super League Football Pinball (360, PS4, PS3, Vita, PC)
Spring is almost here, and that means time to start soccer practice! So in honor of that, this week we’re going to look at a couple of unusual soccer-themed video games. First up is Super League Football Pinball for various Pinball FX2 and Zen Pinball formats (reviewed on 360 here). When you download Pinball FX 2 or Zen Pinball 2, you’re really downloading a free hub from which you can purchase and download various pinball tables separately. Super League Football is the newest table, and you can choose which team table you want and purchase the others later if you wish. I’m not familiar with European Football teams, so I can’t tell you much about them, but the tables are pretty much the same except each features that team’s colors and players. I went with the Zen Studios table since I had no affinity. Go team!
Enter the MiiPC (Hardware Review)
Competition to make smaller, faster, lower powered phones has resulted in cell phone chip manufacturers to the cutting edge of technology, now outpacing computer chip manufacturers in technical abilities. As cell phone capabilities grew, software initially designed for PCs was ported onto the new platform. However, cell phone technology has now come full circle and consumers can now purchase game consoles and even personal computers powered by the same chips found on popular cutting edge cell phones. Most of these new “boxes” run on some form of the common Android operating system initially found on phones but is now being used in a wide ranging number of ways. One of the newest entries to the field of Android powered hardware is the MiiPC box. The MiiPC claims to bring web-based desktop applications (cloud-based computing), media center capabilities, and serve as a gaming console all for under $100. To top things off, it also has a flexible and robust set of parental controls to make it family friendly.
