Welcome to GamerDad: Gaming with Children. My name is Andrew S. Bub - the GamerDad - and I've been writing about videogames, movies, and children for over 15 years now. After working as a magazine journalist, I switched gears to write about how media violence affects children, educating parents about them, and working closely with magazines, newspapers, major retailers and even politicians. GamerDad is an internationally recognized expert in this field. Games, movies and media are fun, kids and families love them, they aren't going away. So join me in cutting through the hype and lets have a real conversation about the things that matter: Video Games, Violent Media, and their supposed effect on children and families.

Rush (Wii U)
Rush is a simple puzzle game out now for Wii U downloadable on the Nintendo eShop. It’s made by Two Tribes, who were also responsible for other great puzzlers like Toki Tori 2 and its sequel. The unique thing about Rush is that it uses only the Wii U touch screen controller. You don’t even need the TV!
Ski Safari Adventure Time (iPad)
Get ready for an avalanche of adventure with Ski Safari Adventure Time! This downloadable game, available on the App Store and Google Play (reviewed on iPad here), takes the existing fun of the original Ski Safari title and adds a huge helping of Adventure Time characters and humor from Cartoon Network’s hit show. And it’s pretty fun and addicting, too!

The Xbox 360 Sure is Nifty! Part Two: Disc-Based Games
Everyone is all excited about the new consoles like the Xbox One, but I don’t want to forget about the great game system that came before it: the 360. Last time on my blog, we looked at my favorite Xbox LIVE downloadable titles. For part two, we’ll go through my favorite disc-based games. Keep in mind that if a game is missing from my list, it may be because it was on my PS3 blog. Or I just didn’t play it. Only games I played will make this blog. OK let’s get started!
The Xbox 360 Sure is Nifty! Part One: Xbox LIVE Downloadables
Halos Fun (iPad)
Halos are a brand of little seedless oranges you can buy in grocery stores. I’ve never had them myself, but I caught the tail end of a commercial about them while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. They kind of remind me of Clementines, or those other little oranges I’ve seen other commercials for called Cuties. Now you can play a cute little free-to-play game starring those Halos oranges for iOS and Android devices (reviewed on iPad here).
Pretentious Game (iPad)
In the 1960’s, renowned animator Chuck Jones directed a cartoon about the romance between a dot and a line, called simply, The Dot and the Line. It even won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short. That may have been the inspiration behind Pretentious Game, which is about a blue square trying to reach the pink square he loves, no matter what obstacles lay between them. It’s available for iOS and Android, but reviewed on iPad here. But what makes the game so pretentious? You’ll have to read on to find out.
Everyday Spelunker (iPad)
Spelunker was a classic 8-bit NES game where you explored a cave to collect treasure and avoid obstacles. It’s become a very nostalgic game, especially in Japan, because it’s notorious for its difficulty. Mainly because your little man dies so easily. Even the tiniest of falls can wipe him out. But for some reason, fans have embraced the high challenge level of this classic and love the little cave explorer despite his weakness. I think they even directly poke fun of that in a Japanese anime. Anyway, now you can play this classic on iOS devices and Google Play (reviewed here on iPad).
Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! (360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS)
Adventure Time is one of Cartoon Network’s most popular animated series, with tons of episodes (at least one even won an Emmy), as well as other products and even a previous console video game that I reviewed about this time last year (click here to read that). Now Jake, Finn, and the rest of the Adventure Time crew are ready to go multiplatform in a brand new quest (360 version reviewed here). Criminals are escaping from Princess Bubblegum’s dungeons, and she doesn’t know why. So she sends Ooo’s bravest heroes down into the depths of the dungeons to find out what’s going on down there. Play as Jake, Finn, and a host of other Adventure Time friends in this multiplayer dungeon crawler.
