Welcome to GamerDad: Gaming with Children. My name is Andrew S. Bub - the GamerDad - and I've been writing about videogames, movies, and children for over 15 years now. After working as a magazine journalist, I switched gears to write about how media violence affects children, educating parents about them, and working closely with magazines, newspapers, major retailers and even politicians. GamerDad is an internationally recognized expert in this field. Games, movies and media are fun, kids and families love them, they aren't going away. So join me in cutting through the hype and lets have a real conversation about the things that matter: Video Games, Violent Media, and their supposed effect on children and families.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F (PS3)
Vocaloid is a popular voice synthesizer music program. In Japan, they’ve even made cartoon characters to go along with the voices used in the synthesizer. Some of these anime characters have become very well known, especially the blue-haired pig-tailed girl Hatsune Miku. Now she and her friends have their own music game on the PS3 (previously on the Vita).

Monster Match (iPad)
Alphaman (iPad)
Link the Slug (iPad)
FlowDoku (iPad)
FlowDoku is basically Sudoku without the numbers. It’s available for Android and iOS devices (played on iPad here). In Sudoku, you must fill rows, columns, and squares with numbers from 1 to 9, but each number can only appear once in each row, column, and square. In FlowDoku, you can only have certain shape patterns in each row, column, and square. Like three blue squares, two orange triangles, and one yellow circle for instance. And the same shapes have to be next to each other, too. You can see how the pattern works at the bottom of the screen.
PAX Prime 2013: Day 4: Cosplay Crazies!
PAX Prime 2013: Day 3: Indie Boom!
One of the things PAX is known for is being very supportive of the indie game scene. They even have a whole area in the back of one of the show floors that’s just dedicated to indie titles called the Indie Mega Booth. And that part of the show was ALWAYS crowded. So today, we’ll look at some of the indie titles I checked out via appointments at PAX!
PAX Prime 2013: Day 2: Smooth Sailing
PAX Prime 2013: Day 1: Hello Seattle!
The Penny Arcade Expo, or PAX for short, is like a mini-E3 that’s open to the public. It was this past Labor Day holiday weekend in Seattle, and I got to attend it again! So for the next four days here at GamerDad, we’ll look at everything I did! Now keep in mind that I’m only ONE person, so I couldn’t see it all, but I got to see and do a lot of stuff anyway! So let’s begin!
