Memorial Day Hot Air Balloon Festival

BALLOON_BOXOver the Memorial Day holiday and the week after, I was in Alabama seeing relatives. We didn’t really do much exciting, just hanged around and visited each other, which is fine by me! But one day we did drive out and saw a hot air balloon festival. Perfect day for it, too, clear skies and everything. I took a lot of pretty pictures, so I thought I’d share a few of them here with you.

A Neighborly Welcome

ACFRUIT1In about a month I’ll be moving to a new town. Oh don’t worry about me, I’ve done this before so I know what to expect. Once I get there, a raccoon will try to sell me a house. My neighbors will be critters like talking ducks and frogs. I’ll be buying my clothes from a pair of porcupine sisters and spending my Saturday nights listening to a singing dog. No I’m not insane; I’m just talking about Animal Crossing. The next installment will be on the 3DS and will be called Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Apparently, someone knows I’ll be moving there around June 9th, so they sent me a typical welcoming present (thanks Andrew). Click here to find out what it is!

Cary’s Top Five Favorite Video Game Ghosts

GHOSTSWith Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon recently released, I tried to think of my favorite ghosts from the first game, as a lot of them had quite a bit of personality. But it’s been such a long time since I played that game that I couldn’t think of enough to write about. But then I started thinking about my favorite ghosts in other video games in general. I think ghosts are kind of neat. You know those dumb ghost hunter and ghost story shows you see on TV? Yeah, I watch those sometimes. It’s a guilty pleasure thing. I might also watch a stupid ghost movie on Netflix from time to time, and of course, Ghostbusters is one of my all-time favorite films. So in honor of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon coming out, here’s a list of my top five favorite ghosts in video games!

Luigi Highlights

luigiIn honor of St. Patrick’s Day, and the upcoming release of a certain game next week, I’m going to write a little tribute blog to one of video gaming’s most famous green-clad heroes: Luigi!  I’m not going to take a look at EVERY game Luigi’s been in, just the ones I feel are most important.  At one time, Luigi was originally my favorite Mario character.  That is, until Super Mario Kart came along and I realized how awesome Toad was.  But Luigi is still tops in my book, way cooler than Mario anyway.  Anyway, let’s take a look at some of Luigi’s highlights in gaming.

Angry Birds Easter Egg Decorating Kit

ANGRYFRONTHappy Easter, everyone! (It’s at the end of March) Just wanted to share something I found at the store (Target), that’s both Easter and video game related. It’s an Angry Birds Easter Egg Decorating Kit! Not sure what Angry Birds and Easter have in common, but I guess birds do lay eggs. But oh well, it’s all in fun, so let’s take a closer look.

Happy iBirthday, Dr. Seuss!

seuss bookshelfYes, it’s the birthday of that grand old champion of fun, quirky, easy to read children’s literature: Dr. Seuss. As Dr. Seuss books are getting quite a workout in my household of late (I’ve got one early reader and one just starting to learn his letters), I thought I’d take a moment on this fine day to give a short rundown on some of our household’s favorites.
