Welcome to GamerDad: Gaming with Children. My name is Andrew S. Bub - the GamerDad - and I've been writing about videogames, movies, and children for over 15 years now. After working as a magazine journalist, I switched gears to write about how media violence affects children, educating parents about them, and working closely with magazines, newspapers, major retailers and even politicians. GamerDad is an internationally recognized expert in this field. Games, movies and media are fun, kids and families love them, they aren't going away. So join me in cutting through the hype and lets have a real conversation about the things that matter: Video Games, Violent Media, and their supposed effect on children and families.

Reader Review: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (360, PS3, PC)
Get ready for a totally tubular, radical blast from the past with Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It’s an expansion for Far Cry 3, but you don’t need the original game to play it. Just take every staple from any cheesy 80’s action movie, mix in a large dose of humor, and you get Blood Dragon. Since it seemed like something more up my brother Jeff’s alley, I had him guest review it (360 version reviewed here).
Quell: Memento (iPad)
Quell: Memento is a puzzle game for iOS devices (iPad version reviewed here). Have you ever played a Zelda game where one of the dungeon puzzles had you push ice blocks around, except they were slippery so the only way to stop them was to make sure something was in their path? That’s what this one reminds me of. But Quell: Memento is a very well-crafted puzzler with more than a hundred levels of clever game design. Read on to find out why:

This past weekend, I attended Project A-Kon with a few of my brothers. A-Kon is a long-running anime convention in the Dallas area. I did enough stuff there to consider it ‘blog-worthy’ so here are a few blurbs and pictures of the event!
Memorial Day Hot Air Balloon Festival
Over the Memorial Day holiday and the week after, I was in Alabama seeing relatives. We didn’t really do much exciting, just hanged around and visited each other, which is fine by me! But one day we did drive out and saw a hot air balloon festival. Perfect day for it, too, clear skies and everything. I took a lot of pretty pictures, so I thought I’d share a few of them here with you.
